Tehran- A spoiler-free review

A new Israeli show is about to hit your screens very soon. Its name is Tehran (the capital city of Iran), and it will be a new and exciting spy thriller that will be available to stream on Apple TV+, on September 25th. I had the privilege to be one of the first people to have watched it, and this is my spoiler-free review.

Just to prepare you, if you have not seen a single episode, Tehran is the story of Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad computer hacker-agent undertaking her very first mission in the heart of a hostile and menacing city, which also happens to be the place of her birth. Tasked with disabling an Iranian nuclear reactor, her mission has implications not just for the Middle East, but for the entire world order. When the Mossad mission fails, Tamar goes rogue in Tehran as she rediscovers her Iranian roots and becomes romantically entwined with a pro-democracy activist. Tamar's soul-searching leads her to become even more conflicted about her mission, while the tension mounts as Iranian authorities tighten the net in their desperate search to locate her and her Mossad colleagues.

The show stars Israeli and Iranian actors alike such as Niv Sultan (who plays Tamar, the Mossad agent), Shaun Toub (who you may know from Iron Man 1 & 3), Navid Negahban (you may know him from Homeland), Liraz Charhi, Menashe Noy and Shervin Alenabi.

This is a spy thriller, so expect twists and turns that you may not see coming, double crossings, and more of the genre's cliches. But even I couldn't think of those twists and turns because they were so unexpected. The plot is genius and is playing on the ever-growing Iranian threat. The show is spoken in Hebrew, English, and Farsi so it's a fantastic way to introduce yourselves to those languages.

The performance of all the actors is amazing! It really helps you formulate your own opinions with and about their characters, and they make you cry and scream at your screens.

To conclude, Tehran is a massive recommendation if you want to know more about the inner workings of the Middle Eastern Cold War, about spying, or, if you love a great action film like James Bond or Mission Impossible.

My rating for Tehran is: 9.5/10

I'm just reminding you, the first two episodes of Tehran will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from September 25th with weekly updates.
